HORIZONTAL FRP TANKS WITH 30% TO 40% THICKENED WALLS

Horizontal FRP tanks, also known as horizontal FRP vessels or horizontal GRP tanks, are a kind of horizontally placed FRP tanks having cambers at both ends and saddles in the middle part.

The wall thickness of horizontal FRP tanks is 30% – 40% higher than that of vertical FRP tanks.

Filament cross winding is adopted for tank shell fabrication, thereby offering a higher shear strength. In places where saddle supports are placed, partially reinforced shall be provided in the radius direction.

Horizontal FRP tanks are applicable to be placed indoors with height restrictions or on the top of buildings due to its lower height, simple operation and stable gravity center.

  • Large storage capacity. Suitable for industries with large storage demands.
  • Great shear resistance. Filament cross winding is adopted for tank shell fabrication, which makes the tank shall have great shear resistance.
  • Free from wind load considerations. As the horizontal FRP tank has a better stability than the vertical one, therefore, the influence of wind load is not taken into consideration.
  • Liquid column static pressure can be ignored. In most cases, the height of liquid column inside the horizontal FRP tanks is relatively low, according to GB 150 Pressure Vessels, when the liquid column static pressure is 5% lower than the design pressure, the liquid column static pressure can be ignored.
  • Structural ribs are provided. It is designed to provide effective support for the overall structure and deliver great stability.
  • Easy operation and easy cleaning.

Horizontal FRP tanks are widely used in chemical, food, petrochemicals, medicine and health, ferrous metallurgy, nonferrous metallurgy, power, coal, electric machinery, textile, automobile and motorcycle manufacturing, railway, ship and construction industries, light industry, electronics industry as well as agriculture, commerce, military and civil sectors, etc.

  • In the chemical industry, it is mainly used for the storage of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, formaldehyde, methanol, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, wastewater, sodium hypochlorite, etc.
  • In the food industry, it is mainly used for the storage of edible products such as vinegar, soy sauce, edible oil and pure water.
