FRP PIPES – Outstanding Physical and Chemical Performance

FRP pipes,also known as GRP pipes, fiberglass reinforced plastic pipes, is a type of conveying pipes with lightweight, high strength, corrosive resistance performance. The excellent corrosive property and outstanding mechanical, physical and chemical performance saves engineering installation and maintenance costs, so it is regarded as the "user friendly" pipe.

GRP pipes have been proved to be superior to steel pipes in many aspects. They are widely used in industrial, civil engineering, petroleum, power and other fields.

  • Excellent physical property. Specific gravity is 1.8–2.1 g/cm2, which is equal to 1/4 of steel. And 1/3 weight of steel pipe with same specification.
  • Excellent heat and electrical insulation performance. 0.5% coefficient of heat conduction pipe and almost same expansion coefficient of steel.
  • Corrosion resistance. It will not react with alkali, acid, salty and organic solvents, which is the ideal material to conveying corrosive fluid materials.
  • Excellent hydraulic characteristics. Low fluid resistance, so the smaller pipe diameter can be chosen to convey same fluid with steel pipes and plastic pipes.
  • Extremely smooth inner surface. Inner surface roughness is 0.0084 and won't change a lot even conveying sands and cements.
  • Low installation and maintenance cost
    • The FRP pipes don't need preservative treatment.
    • Thermal insulation fees is little.
    • Lightweight structure saves lifting equipment cost.
    • Longer length than cast iron pipe and cement pipe, so the fittings are less to reduce project period and maintenance cost.
    • No need laying cement layer and directly buried in the soils.
  • Long service life. The service life can up to 50 years.
  • High temperature adaptation. It can be used in the temperature ranges from -70 °C to +250 °C.
  • Safe. Non-toxic structure to conveying drinking waters and maintain water quality long term.
